«roots» x Basel Social Club – a one-of-a-kind dining experience during Art Basel
For an exclusive collaboration with the Basel Social Club, the restaurant is temporarily relocating its operations to a vacant office building in the center of Basel. There, the format “Dinner Meeting – a culinary Office Affair by Basel Social Club & ‘roots’ Basel” is being created.
From 15 to 19 June 2026, «roots», under the direction of head chef Pascal Steffen, will present a specially developed culinary concept that deliberately expands traditional restaurant structures. Embedded in this year’s edition of the Basel Social Club under the theme “Office,” the Dinner Meeting combines gastronomic excellence with a curated art experience.
For the duration of the collaboration, «roots» becomes part of an interdisciplinary overall context in which art, architecture, performance, and gastronomy interact across multiple floors. “I am very much looking forward to this extraordinary project during a special week for the entire city of Basel and the region,” says Pascal Steffen, adding, “Together with the Basel Social Club, we are creating a place where art and culinary experiences meet and space for reflection is created.”
The dinner takes place as a seated fine-dining experience in a specially designed private dining room. A four-course menu is served, accompanied by a carefully paired beverage selection.
